HOW CAN I JOIN THE FRESNO ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®?

Brokers & Agents: You will need to download and print the Membership Application.   The application must be completed, signed by your Broker, and accompany a copy of your Real Estate License.  You may bring the completed items to the FAR Office, or fax to 559-490-6464.  Fax Applications: Please allow 24-48 hours for processing after all documentation is received.  Once your paperwork is complete you will be contacted by the Membership Department with your membership information.

Affiliate Members: If your office is not currently a member please fill out the Affiliate Member Application. Please have the resposible member sign the application and include a list of names of any additional Affiliate Associates that you would like listed in our Affiliate Directory and Membership Roster.  Affiliate Associate membership is free when the Office is an active Affiliate member.  Please contact the membership department with any questions at 559-490-6400

Clerical Users: If you require MLS Clerical User Access, are not practicing real estate, but only assisting agents, then please fill out the MLS Clerical User Application. The application must be completed, signed by your Broker, and a $50 access fee is required.  You may bring the completed items to the FAR Office, or fax to 559-490-6464.

*Please note any new Clerical Users must attend Clerical User Training within 30 days of attaining MLS access or their access will be terminated.

WHAT IS THE NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION AND WHAT IS COVERED?

Twice a month we offer an Orientation class to our new Members.  In order to be considered a REALTOR® Member in Good Standing, Board Members are required to attend Orientation. In addition, in order to be eligible for Health Insurance through CAR, Board Members are required to attend Orientation. MLS Only Members are also required to attend.  New members who attend Orientation within the first three months of joining will receive a refund of $100.

During the Orientation Class new members will meet some of the Directors, go over the FAR Bylaws, the MLS Rules & Regulations, watch a short video on Anti-Trust Compliance, as well as an Ethics Video Mandated by NAR. Lunch is provided. Orientation takes place from 10am-4pm on the scheduled weekdays, and 9am-3pm on the scheduled Saturdays, unless otherwise notified. Please contact the FAR office at (559) 490-6400 to register as seating is limited.

 To receive 3 DRE credits for watching the Ethics video, new members can return to the FAR office on any Tuesday afternoon at 2pm and take the Ethics test. The cost is $18.00.  (The 3 credits goes toward your 4 year license renewal)

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BEING A REALTOR® MEMBER RATHER THAN JUST JOINING THE MLS?

A: Only real estate licensees who are members of the Association of REALTORS® are properly called REALTORS®.  REALTORS® subscribe to a strict code of ethics and are expected to maintain a higher level of knowledge of the process of buying and selling real estate. 

There are many benefits to Association membership that far exceed the cost of membership.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO JOIN THE MLS AND/OR ASSOCIATION?

The cost to join the MLS is prorated and changes on the 25th of each month.  Association fees are prorated and change on the first of each month.  Please refer to page 4 of the Membership Application to view the current fees. 

Orientation Deposit: If you are a first-time member a refundable $100 Orientation Deposit is charged.

This $100 Deposit will be refunded to you if you attend a New Member Orientation within the first 3 months of joining.

Broker Entry Fee:  If you are a first-time Broker you will be charged a one-time Broker Entry fee of $160.  This is a lifetime fee, if you cancel membership and return at a later date, you will not be charged this fee again.

Returning Members:  If you are a returning member please contact the FAR Membership Department as your fees may be different than listed on the New Member Application.  Please call 559-490-6400.

DOES FRESNO PARTICIPATE IN RECIPROCAL MEMBERSHIPS WITH ANY OTHER ASSOCIATIONS?

No. Fresno does not participate in any reciprocal memberships.

DO YOU HAVE A SHORT-TERM OR TEMPORARY MLS MEMBERSHIP?

No. We only have one kind of MLS Membership.  MLS is billed bi-annually.

DOES MY BROKER HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE FRESNO MLS FOR ME TO JOIN?

Yes.  Your Broker is responsible for your membership, therefore they must also be a member of the Fresno MLS in order for you to have access to the Fresno MLS.

DOES MY BROKER HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE ASSOCIATION IN ORDER FOR ME TO JOIN?

Yes.  Your Broker is responsible for your membership so they must hold the same membership level as their agents.

MY BROKER IS ALREADY A REALTOR® MEMBER SOMEWHERE ELSE, DO THEY HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF THE FRESNO ASSOCIATION FOR ME TO JOIN?

Yes. however if your Broker is a member of another Association where they pay Local, California, and National Dues, they are only required to pay the local Fresno dues when joining. We do require a Letter of Good Standing from the Brokers Primary Assocation in order to make this possible. Then you are able to join as a Fresno REALTOR® Member under that Broker.

I AM A REALTOR® AND I HAVE AN ASSISTANT, HOW CAN THEY ACCESS THE MLS?

They need to download the Clerical User Application.  This application needs to be signed by the Broker of the office.  A $50 fee is also required.  They may bring their completed items to the FAR Office or fax to 559-490-6464.  Faxed Applications: Please allow 24-48 hours for processing.  All Clerical Users are required to attend a Clerical User Training Class within the first 30 days of access or their account will be terminated.

ARE CLERICAL USERS REQUIRED TO ATTEND TRAINING/RENEWAL CLASSES?

Yes. Any new Clerical Users must take Clerical User Training within 30 days of attaining MLS access or their access will be terminated.  Classes are being held once a month at the FAR Office.   Please see our calendar for a schedule of classes, or call FAR at (559) 490-6400 for more details.

Clerical User Renewal is an annual requirement for Clerical Users who have access to the MLS.  This class is required yearly to continue MLS access and is offered once a month.

WHAT IS AN AFFILIATE MEMBER?

Affiliate Members are those who are affiliated with the real estate industry, and offer services to our REALTOR® Members, and their clients.  Affiliate Members pay dues to the Association and are given certain privileges as a member. 

Some of the businesses offered through our Affiliates are:  

Escrow & Title, Home Inspection, Home Warranty, Insurance, Legal, Mortgage & Finance, Property Management, Flooring, Cleaning Services, Junk Removal, Pool Services, Home Builders, Home Staging, Pest Control, and much more.
